Information literacy is a key 21st century competency for knowledge up. When this skill is in deficit, susceptibility to disinformation and cyberattacks increases, and audiences may become open to pseudoscience. We are under no illusion – we cannot educate the public to a level that will eliminate these phenomena. However, we can consistently build a bridge between the public and the world of science and the reliable knowledge that flows from it. By increasing the visibility of science, we aim to stimulate dialogue, provide participants in the public debate with solid scientific evidence, and raise awareness in the information society.
This need has become the foundation of our mission, which is to constantly seek new and innovative methods, tools and communication channels that we make available to people and organizations that are sources of reliable and verified knowledge, so that this knowledge is available in a way that is understandable and accessible to everyone, breaking down communication barriers and confronting misinformation.
Why do we think the public wants to listen to scientists at all? According to the 3M State of Science Index 2022 survey, 90 percent of respondents trust science and 86 percent trust scientists. – trust scientists. The number of people for whom „science is very important in everyday life” is also growing, from 46 percent of respondents before the pandemic in 2020 to 52 percent in the 2022 edition.
In our daily work, we also see that the knowledge of scientists and knowledge experts is much needed by journalists, influencers and other participants in the public debate. Sound science enables them to shape positive social and economic change by disseminating real knowledge, developing critical thinking, and countering disinformation.
We at knowledge up are not scientists. We are experts who specialize in communicating science to the public and business. Our goal is to create a communication space that allows participants in the world of science to quickly, easily and effectively build visibility for their knowledge without compromising the time they need to advance in their content areas.
